Clark Barrett  - “The Art of Broken Hill: Traditional to Contemporary” group exhibition at Parliament House

I have a passion for the landscapes, stories and history of the Far West of NSW. I have spent almost 50 years roaming the remote dirt tracks for a radius of 400 kilometres around Broken Hill. My on the spot artworks try to capture the jaw dropping colours and beauty of nature. The studio artworks attempt to communicate my metaphysical attachment to "rotation of the planet time" out bush: the life, huge horizon, big sky and the sparkling starry dome of the night sky. As an artist and an educator, I am now also employed as a part time outback 4wd tour guide - with a specific mission to bring this seemingly empty landscape alive for our visitors: "There is no mute landscape for the initiated" - Colin Thrubon.
