CASP funding announced
CASP funding
We’re thrilled to announce eight new projects in the Far West will share $17,000 of funding through the 2023 round of the NSW Government’s Country Arts Support Program. The projects range across the arts sector. West Darling Art’s Director, Cathy Farry, commented that the CASP funding is important to our region and benefits not only the recipient but also audiences and community. She thanks everyone who put time and effort into a CASP application. Unfortunately, there were more applications than the panel had funds for. West Darling Arts has supplemented this year’s round to support as many as possible. There was a huge demand for funding this year with twice as many applicants as the previous year.
Given that the region’s CASP allocation hasn’t had any substantial increase in 20 years, our peak body Regional Arts NSW, will continue to advocate to the NSW government for an increase of this funding.
The selected projects offer exciting arts activities, development of new work, public outcomes and an increase in resources. The funded projects will employ 39 professional arts practitioners, utilise 49 volunteers contributing over 1,850 volunteer hours and $36,820 in volunteer dollars. The projects represent $152,982 of regional economic activity.
