Fall in Love With Country
Wontanella Tour Valentines Day
On country tours around the Menindee lakes region - Aboriginal owned & operated by Barkindji locals: Dave, Carol and Payton Doyle and Barbara Quayle.
Wontanella is the Barkindji word for many waters, is the word associated with the many waters that make up the natural waterways of Menindee and is located in south-west New South Wales on the Baaka (Darling River). Whether it be a tour of Barkindji bush medicine and food plants that sustained us for millennia; viewing artefacts on country where they were left following colonisation, appreciating the landscape, animals and birds or walking the lands as my ancestors did; we cover it all.
My people have had a constant presence in our country since megafauna roamed these lands, back to around 45,000 years - but according to our oral histories we have been here forever, and when you walk with us you will understand why. (https://www.wontanella.com.au/about).

If you are visiting our region, please consider supporting initiatives such as the Wontanella Tours. Recent research outlines the role of domestic arts tourism in supporting local economies and enriching and connecting Australians through creative experiences, especially through Aboriginal cultural experiences. Domestic arts tourism is growing, especially in regional Australia, where arts tourists travel further, stay longer and spend more.
