More Than a Fish Kill

More Than a Fish Kill documentary + discussion - Sunday 15 October
In the words of Dr Kirsten Wehner from the NMA:
'More than a Fish Kill is an important new documentary exploring how artists, fisheries manager and Barkindji and Wiradjuri custodians came together in the aftermath of devastating fish kills along the Barka (Darling River) and turned these ecological disasters into catalysts for cultural connection and revival.
Produced by the National Museum in collaboration with the Cad Factory, the film tells the story of a remarkable on-going collaboration that interweaves art, science and ancient knowledges to care for communities, honour our rivers and reshape how we live, now and into the future.
Before the screening, ABC RN Big Ideas host, Natasha Mitchell, will be joined by artist Vic McEwan, Barkindji Elder Barbara Quayle, fisheries manager Matt McLennan and Director of Clontarf Academy, Narrandera, John Ingram, to explore the issues and achievements behind the film. With plenty of time for audience Q & A.'
