River Country Tour
The Cad Factory, National Museum of Australia and Petaurus Education Group are delighted to announce that the River Country tour is coming to Broken Hill.
River Country explores the cultural, creative and spiritual connections with Murray-Darling rivers and wetlands.
Come along to Broken Hill City Art Gallery from Wednesday 27 – Saturday 30 November to experience a unique, pop-up exhibition where you can stroll amongst river red gums, float with pelicans and look for platypus and Murray cod.
This exhibition was created by Kirsten Wehner and S. A. Adair, in collaboration with over 100 community participants and artists from across New South Wales.
Kirsten Wehner, National Museum of Australia James O Fairfax Senior Fellow in Culture and Environment, reflected that, “The exhibition came from a community day we held at the National Museum in Canberra in October last year. It was a wonderful opportunity for people to explore all the different ways that our lives are intertwined with the extraordinary plants and animals along the beautiful Murray–Darling rivers and wetlands.
It’s very exciting that this event has been transformed into a stand-alone arts program that will visit communities across the Riverina, Far West and Northern New South Wales in 2024 and 2025.”
To support the exhibition there will be a collection of free events that people are welcome to attend.
