Elisha Mangal
Elisha: ‘My name is Elisha Mangal. I am a proud Barkindji woman. My mum is Aboriginal and my Dad is Fijian Indian. I was born and raised in Mount Druitt, Sydney, and moved to Dareton 12 years ago when I was 13 years old. I have only recently over that past 5 years learnt a lot about my Indigenous culture. I started doing art at the end of 2016 with my partner, Corey Payne, who is also an artist. He encouraged me to pick up a brush and start painting. Painting and going out on country takes my mind off any life dramas.
In 2019, I decided to run Corey’s small business Miiki Puuri Mandi Aboriginal Art full time in Mildura. Since doing art as a full time job the business is blooming with selling a lot of work and slowly getting our name out there as artists.’
